The Creative Tourism Network® – which brings together destinations of all types from all over the world – was awarded the “Societal Development Prize” at a ceremony held as part of the A World for Travel Forum, which took place in the incredible city of Seville from October 17 to 19.
This annual high-level meeting, designed in a “Davos” format, brings together world dignitaries and industry personalities at a different destination each year to offer enlightened leadership on the “why” and “how” of leading the tourism industry along the path to sustainable development, via 5 discernible categories of change: social, environmental, climatic, economic and technical.
The focus this year was on regenerative tourism and human capital issues, two essential elements of creative tourism.
In addition to the high-level panels that took place throughout the event, the AWFT Sustainability Awards highlighted initiatives and organizations that are committed to anticipating and acting responsibly.
The awards were presented during a ceremony conducted by Rajan Datar of the BBC.

On this occasion, Accor, Latam Airways and USAID’s Turizam project received “special recognition” from the jury.
“It is essential for us, as organizers of A World For travel, to highlight these initiatives and amplify their efforts to influence others,” said Christian Delom, secretary general of the forum.
Creative Tourism Network® Director Caroline Couret received the award with great emotion. “When you invest yourself – both professionally and personally – in sustainable tourism missions, the slightest positive impact on local communities and territories, the smallest smiles, are incredible rewards, which give meaning to projects, tourism and life! And when you receive such prestigious recognition from organizations you sincerely admire, you can’t think of a better incentive to continue supporting all these project leaders – be they farmers, craftsmen, entrepreneurs, major tourism chains or destinations – in the development of this virtuous tourism! This trophy is theirs, and also that of the entire A World for Travel team, which, in record time, is acting positively to bring about these changes at all levels!
