Raku is a technique originally from Korea that was introduced to Japan from the 16th century onward. Raku involves firing glazed stoneware pieces at high temperatures, followed by immediate removal for thermal shock, resulting in crackling glazes. Subsequent smoking with sawdust reveals metallic hues through an oxidation-reduction reaction during cooling. Discover the Raku ceramics craftsmanship in this workshop, including glazing and firing a ceramic piece.
